Canada-CARICOM Skills Training for the Green Economy Scholarships Program
Global Affairs Canada is offering scholarships to students from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) for short-term exchange opportunities at publicly funded Canadian colleges and institutes.
Interested candidates should contact their home institution’s international office to learn about institutional partnerships and collaborations with Canadian colleges and institutes. Home institutions in the CARICOM member states will then provide eligible candidates documentation to Canadian institutions.
- Program name: Canada-CARICOM Skills Training for the Green Economy Scholarships Program
- Funding organizations: Global Affairs Canada
- Target audiences: Citizens of Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago pursuing college-level studies there
- Duration: 4 to 8 months at the college level
- Inclusions: Visa and/or study/work permit fees, airfare, health insurance, living expenses, ground transportation expenses, books, and supplies
- Application period: January to March 2021

The OAS is offering Master’s and PhD scholarship opportunities for Canadians in Brazil
The Organization of American States, in partnership with the Coimbra Group of Brazilian Universities (GCUB), is offering over 350 Master’s and PhD scholarships to high-performing students in the Americas.
Students are required to apply for admission to three Master’s or PhD programs. Each program must be offered by a university in a different region of Brazil. Following university application, students must submit a scholarship application before the deadline. Scholarships are tenable starting in 2021.
- Program name: PAEC OAS-GCUB Brazil Scholarship Program
- Funding organization: Organization of American States
- Target audience: University-level students and graduates of any OAS member country other than Brazil
- Duration: Up to 24 months at the Master’s level; up to 48 months at the PhD level
- Inclusions: Tuition, settlement stipend (for the first 150 selected candidates only), monthly living stipend
- Deadline: January 22, 2021
Canada-China Scholars’ Exchange Program
Global Affairs Canada and the Chinese Ministry of Education are offering short-term scholarships to Canadians wishing to study abroad in China. Scholarships are awarded for studies, research, language studies or a combination of studies and language studies at participating Chinese institutions.
- Program name: Canada-China Scholars’ Exchange Program
- Funding organizations: Global Affairs Canada and the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China
- Target audiences: Canadian students (college, undergraduate and graduate levels in Canada); Canadian faculty members and research staff at a post-secondary institution in Canada; Canadian mid-career professionals
- Number of scholarships: Over 20
- Duration: 4 to 12 months for students; and 8 weeks to 12 months for faculty members and mid-career professionals
- Inclusions: Airfare, tuition fees, monthly living stipend, on-campus accommodation and medical insurance
- Deadline: January 21, 2021
The Canadian Bureau for International Education is the scholarship administrator for the International Scholarships Program of Global Affairs Canada.
Grants available for faculty at Canadian postsecondary institutions
The Government of Canada is offering grants to full-time professors and researchers for short-term teaching or research projects in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Faculty Mobility for Partnership Building Program aims to support Canadian postsecondary institutions that are developing new collaboration and short-term exchange agreements or strengthening existing agreements with ELAP-eligible institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Canadian postsecondary institutions apply on behalf of faculty by filling out an online application form and detailing the proposed study or research projects in eligible countries.
- Program name:Faculty Mobility for Partnership Building Program
- Funding organization:Government of Canada
- Target audience:Canadian postsecondary institutions
- Duration:Three to eight weeks
- Value:Up to CAD 7,000 per project
- Inclusions:Airfare, living expenses, health insurance and visa or work permit fees and other eligible expenses
- Deadline:February 25, 2021
