Membership Categories & Criteria

Institutional Members
Canadian post-secondary institutions and school boards

  • Must be Edu-Canada brand eligible
  • Must adhere to CBIE’s Code of Ethical Practice
  • Fees based on FTEEs
  • Receive multiple votes at the Annual General Meeting, based on FTEEs

Associate Members
Canadian language schools, private K-12 schools and private post-secondary institutions

  • Must be Edu-Canada brand eligible
  • Must adhere to CBIE’s Code of Ethical Practice
  • Fees based on FTEEs
  • Receive one vote at the Annual General Meeting

Membership Fees

Member categories for institutions and associates (except school boards) are based on full-time equivalent enrolment (FTEE), which is the total of full-time enrolment plus part-time prorated to full-time equivalent.  All memberships renew annually on April 1st. Fees for new members will be prorated for the first year based on when they join to align with the annual April 1st renewal date.
