Global Expansion of the SDS Consultation
Institutions across Canada were invited to contribute their thoughts on the current Student Direct Stream (SDS) program and the possible changes in a global expansion. The following is a summary of these responses to the four questions posed. Read the Feedback Submission Here
IRCC confirmed that no changes to the SDS program will be implemented before the fall federal election. It was also confirmed that next steps regarding this program would be more fulsome stakeholder consultations.
Bill C-97 and the RISIA Scope of Practice
The IAC drafted a briefing note for IRCC regarding the RISIA scope of practice. IRCC responded to the briefing note and confirmed that there will be no change to the RISIA scope of practice under the newly proposed College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants regulatory body. Assessing Study Permit Conditions PDI
In late May, the IAC provided IRCC with recommendations and points of clarification through a briefing note regarding the changes to the Assessing Study Permit Conditions PDI. The IAC is waiting for a response from IRCC. Read the Briefing Note Here
Upcoming Work
The IAC is presently working on briefing notes for IRCC regarding the changes to the PGWP PDI as well as to offer recommendations to update the Co-op Work Permit process.
