Niagara Falls, November 24, 2015: CBIE and Queen’s IETP are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at CBIE’s 49th annual meeting in Niagara Falls.
CBIE works closely with a membership of over 150 education providers nationwide, and with a network of strategic partners throughout Canada and around the globe to promote Canadian international education by mobilizing expertise, knowledge, opportunity and leadership.
Queen’s IETP has a wealth of experience and expertise in international education, in particular in identifying and fulfilling the professional development needs of those working in the field. It offers a core curriculum of face-to-face courses and workshops; customized training delivered in the workplaces of clients across the country; and a Certificate for International Education Professionals, which combines face-to-face courses with online courses developed and delivered by the Faculty of Education at Queen’s University.
“CBIE and Queen’s IETP are both committed to the recognition of professionals in the field of international education” said Karen McBride, President and CEO of CBIE “Moving the training around the country will ensure that professionals in all regions of Canada have access to courses and workshops in the most convenient and cost effective way”.
The initial agreement is for two years, commencing on January 1, 2016. During this time both organizations agree to ensure IE professionals have training opportunities that meet their needs and advance their careers, work together to offer Queen’s IETP core courses at CBIE regional and annual conferences across Canada and to collaborate in identifying new areas of professional development required by IE professionals.
CBIE is Canada’s national organization dedicated to making Canada a global leader in international education. CBIE’s pan-Canadian membership comprises 150 colleges, institutes, universities, school boards and language schools which enrol over 1.2 million students from coast to coast.
