Watch Recording
Overview

Global Skills Opportunity (GSO), CBIE, and the CBIE Education Abroad Professional Learning Community (EA-PLC) are collaborating on a learning series to support Canadian post-secondary institutions in developing and designing their international experience programs.

This learning series is open to the Canadian international education community (not limited to CBIE members). Simultaneous French interpretation will be available.

Description

In this interactive session we will explore wraparound supports for students upon their return to Canada by contextualizing the re-entry transition as part of the international experience from a global competency perspective. We will look at how students can articulate and capitalize on the skills they develop while abroad as defined by the literature and institutional determined global competencies. In breakout rooms, we will discuss how global competencies can be expressed and embedded in wraparound supports as part of the pre-departure orientation, the international experience, and upon re-entry.

Learning objectives
  1. Contextualize global competencies in outbound mobility
  2. Explore definitions and examples of global competencies
  3. Discuss and apply global competencies within international experience programs – before, during and after
  4. Determine institutional directions for global competency development within institutions
