Ottawa, February 6, 2019 – Following a national executive search process, CBIE’s board of directors is pleased to announce Larissa Bezo as the organization’s new President and Chief Executive Officer.
“I am delighted to share the news of Larissa Bezo’s appointment as President and CEO of CBIE,” said Dr. Robert Summerby-Murray, chair of the CBIE board of directors and president of Saint Mary’s University.
Larissa Bezo has served in senior leadership positions in both the public and not-for-profit sectors, including as the youngest Deputy Clerk in the history of Saskatchewan, Senior Advisor of a Federal Royal Commission and most recently, as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer for the Canadian Bureau for International Education.
“Larissa Bezo has led the organization through a time of transition as Interim President and CEO. Her career trajectory is a testament to her ability to provide effective leadership to build organizational capacity and resilience, foster durable partnerships, and navigate sensitive political, intercultural and international issues in an increasingly complex global environment. I look forward to Larissa’s visionary leadership for CBIE in her new role,” added Dr. Summerby-Murray.
“It is an honour and a privilege for me to have been entrusted to lead this remarkable organization that has had such a positive and enduring impact in the field of international education.” said Ms. Bezo. “In this era of global uncertainty, fostering mutual understanding across borders through education has never been more important. I look forward to working with CBIE’s dedicated staff and our many partners to implement our board’s vision to extend CBIE’s reach and impact,” Ms. Bezo concluded.
The Canadian Bureau for International Education is the national organization dedicated to the internationalization of education and the expansion of educational partnerships between Canada and countries around the globe. CBIE’s pan-Canadian membership comprises 150 colleges, institutes, cégeps, universities, school boards and language schools.
