Niagara Falls, November 25, 2015: CBIE and KNE are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at CBIE’s 49th annual meeting in Niagara Falls.
This agreement is the result of discussions that unfolded over the course of two CBIE missions to Vietnam in June and October 2015 and a visit by KNE to CBIE in August 2015.
The agreement outlines cooperation in the areas of student placement, familiarization tours, teacher training, staff recruitment and development of CISS as a premiere centre of Canadian education.
Planning is already underway for a familiarization tour of Canadian post-secondary institutions in April 2016 and an in-country teacher training workshop in Vietnam in summer 2016.
“CBIE sees Vietnam as a key partner country and we are excited to be signing our joint cooperation agreement at our 49th annual conference” said Karen McBride, President and CEO of CBIE. “We are also delighted to see CISS alumni now studying in Canada volunteering at our conference”.
This is the most recent example of CBIE’s important work with the international K-12 sector abroad.
In partnership with the Toronto District School Board, CISS prepares grade 12 graduates who have passed through the Ontario high school curriculum. Many of their graduates are presently studying in Canadian postsecondary institutions. CBIE and KNE anticipate this number growing as a result of this agreement.
CBIE is Canada’s national organization dedicated to making Canada a global leader in international education. CBIE’s pan-Canadian membership comprises 150 colleges, institutes, universities, school boards and language schools which enrol over 1.2 million students from coast to coast.
