Call for Expressions of Interest
Date: November 16-19, 2016
Location: National Capital Region, Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec
Cost: In-kind support
As a key feature of CBIE’s 50th Annual Conference in Ottawa, a Familiarization tour of Canadian educational institutions across the Eastern Ontario/ Western Quebec region will be organized for international conference participants.
The Familiarization Tour aims to highlight Canadian institutional excellence, to promote member institutions within the National Capital Region and to facilitate international partnerships. Institutions on the agenda will host tours and arrange for meetings with relevant officials, in order to promote discussions on international partnerships, mobility agreements and joint projects.
The tour will commence immediately following the conference closing session on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 16th and will conclude on Saturday, November 19th. NOTE: the length of the tour and final agenda will be largely determined by expressions of interest from CBIE membership and a priority matching exercise. CBIE will promote the tour to all international participants attending the conference, and as such, the make-up of the delegation is not yet determined.
CBIE’s Annual Conference attracts upwards of 800 participants, 40 exhibitors, and international education leaders from over 40 countries. The conference is the ideal meeting place for international delegations who are looking to learn more about Canadian education and to explore partnerships with Canadian institutions. Last year’s conference saw delegations from Southeast Asia, Scandinavia, Latin America, the Caribbean and the United States, among others.
Past delegations that have participated in the conference have included government officials from ministries of education, higher education and technical/vocation education; ambassadors; presidents and senior leadership from international universities and colleges; and owners/administrators/guidance counsellors within the private/international K-12 sector.
CBIE is now accepting expressions of interest in receiving this international delegation to your institution. Interested Canadian institutions can be from across the spectrum of education (K-12 school, cegép, institute, polytechnic, college, university, or language school), but should be located within a 3-hour drive of Ottawa, Ontario.
Interested institutions will be asked to provide in-kind support to the delegation (such as meals).
Please advise CBIE if your institution would like to participate in the National Capital Region FAM Tour agenda by emailing [email protected] by July 4th. In the email please include the following:
- Name and position of main contact
- Institutional description (1 paragraph)
- Primary objectives in hosting an international delegation
- Capacity to provide in-kind support
