2023 Annual Report

International Network of Tomorrow’s Leaders
(INTL) October 2023

Message from the Chair

Support for new professionals in international education. As INTL chair, I recognize and deeply appreciate the dedication of each sub-committee and its members and their commitment to our professional learning community (PLC) and everything it stands for. It was a real pleasure to work with such committed and kind team members.

The bursary committee evaluated 40 applications and awarded 10 bursaries to attend the CBIE conference.

The mentorship committee successfully matched 50 mentors with 62 mentees. They sent out 8 newsletters and 8 guides, and created 2 surveys to evaluate experiences in the mentorship program.

The networking committee facilitated multiple holistic networking initiatives. This included encouraging participation in the monthly INTL Connect program, facilitating ice-breakers in regular INTL team meetings, and creating resources for passive networking.

The championing committee is working on a survey to explore members’ needs and expectations for professional development. Throughout the year, the team developed 6 EDI posters that were thoughtfully designed and provided important content with opportunities for INTL members to reflect, engage, and submit follow up.

The events committee is planning the INTL breakfast and the INTL Networking event at the CBIE conference. To encourage new connections and relationship building the team members are creating an agenda to be shared out prior to conference.

The communications committee supported all other groups with their communication needs and excelled at designing EDI posters shared with the community.

At the end of 2023, the PLC consists of a two-person Leadership Team, including one chair and a CBIE Liaison. INTL’s Working Group includes 35 members, 14 sub-committee co-heads and 21 Associate Members. Members of INTL were invited to attend team meetings throughout the year to connect, provide updates, and build community. Each sub-committee met as needed for their own projects and activities.

I am pleased to present the annual report with gratitude for new connections, successfully completed projects, and the incredible work completed by the team! Here’s to another great year for INTL in 2024.

Sincerely,
Theresa Lundy

Special Thanks

As my term as INTL Chair is coming to an end, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to serve this professional learning community. With the goal to create a sense of belonging and inclusion for members of INTL I am pleased to have witnessed new connections formed, excellent work being completed, and new ideas having come to fruition. I sincerely thank each and every INTL member for their dedication and exceptional contributions this year.

I want to thank Sultan Almajil! I am so grateful for your expertise, feedback, and guidance that supported my professional and personal growth. I also want to thank and express my gratitude to Sophie for being an excellent mediator between the PLC and CBIE for not only me as Chair but also all INTL members.

Thank you to CBIE for this platform to connect as young international professionals across Canadian institutes to work together, learn from each other and strengthen our leadership skills. My last four years with INTL have been incredibly rewarding and I truly thank everyone I have met along the way (old chairs, co leads, members, and new friends) for sharing not only your professional competence and knowledge but also your laughter and kindness! Sincere thanks to all who assisted INTL in various ways to make this year a success! I am looking forward to connecting again in the future.
