Québec, Québec
Today, at its annual sector conference in Québec City, the Canadian Bureau for International Education unveiled new major sector-led Global Campaign Initiative (GCI) to reposition Canada as one of the world’s leading destinations for international education.
Developed in response to recent policy changes and heightened competition, the campaign showcases Canada’s academic excellence, diversity and progressive values. By engaging policymakers and educational authorities, institutions as well as prospective students and their families, the campaign aims to cement Canada’s reputation as one of the most inclusive and stimulating places to learn and live.
Recent policy instability has eroded Canada’s international education reputation globally. Federal priorities have shifted, leaving Canada’s position as a top study destination vulnerable. In the absence of a national narrative on the policy changes, misinformation has perpetuated both domestically and globally. All the while, other countries are aggressively improving their international education programming and marketing.
Learn Canadian repositions Canada as not just a place to access world-leading academic education, but as a place to become a true global citizen. The Learn Canadian brand seeks to inspire students worldwide to choose Canada as a place to learn, grow, and thrive, equipping them with the knowledge, values, and experiences to succeed anywhere in the world.
The Learn Canadian brand is the culmination of a coordinated and proactive effort by institutions and key stakeholders across the country, led by CBIE. The campaign is a timely response intended to address immediate concerns and misinformation and lay the foundation for a more sustainable and ethical Canadian international education system for the future. The campaign places emphasis on a student-focused value proposition that reinforces Canada’s commitment to high-quality education, research and opportunity.
The campaign lays the groundwork for a more strategic approach to attracting the high-quality talent that Canada will need moving forward to address its labour market and demographic imperatives and to facilitate its current ambitious nation-building objectives.
