Training for new international education practitioners and anyone interested in learning more about the sector and the Canadian education landscape.

IE-Pro training provides foundational information on the international education sector, offering practical resources and tools to help learners get started in the field. The online, readily accessible training allows learners to engage at their own convenience and learn at their own pace. The fundamental concepts introduced in IE-Pro help offer a starting point for understanding key concepts, roles, and practices, preparing learners for more advanced courses and supporting a clear pathway for professional growth in the international education sector.

IE-Pro training (Fundamentals of International Education in Canada and Internationalization in Action) are prerequisites for International Students and Immigration Education Program (ISIEP) applicants who are not employed in a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) and working with international students. Fundamentals of International Education in Canada

This self-directed online training introduces learners to the fundamentals of the Canadian education system along with the key ministries, organizations, and associations that influence both domestic and international education. Drawing on a combination of historical context and contemporary perspectives, participants will explore how Canada’s international education sector has evolved and continues to contribute to global engagement. By the end of the course, learners will understand the structure of education in Canada, recognize the major players influencing policy and practice, and appreciate the historical roots that shape today’s international education landscape.

Internationalization in Action

This self-directed online training introduces foundational concepts and practical applications of comprehensive internationalization in higher education. Learners will review definitions, rationales, and models to explore various factors that drive institutions’ pursuit of internationalization, as well as the challenges and opportunities that can arise. By the end of the training, learners will have gained practical tools to connect theory to action and identified strategic goals, key collaborators, and common interests that support inclusive, ethical, and sustainable approaches to embedding internationalization across institutional priorities.
