The Community of Practice: International Partnerships Professionals in Higher Education (CoPP) and the International Relations Professional Learning Community (IR-PLC) invite members to an interactive online session designed to help you create impactful conference proposals for 2025, especially in thematic areas of global engagement and partnerships.

This session will provide:

  • Opportunities to connect with potential co-presenters
  • Feedback and tips to refine your session ideas
  • Strategies to build confidence in presenting

Whether it’s your first proposal or you’re looking to sharpen your skills, this is a supportive space to exchange ideas, ask questions and prepare high-quality submissions.

Emily MacDougall is the Director of Global Partnerships in the Office of Global Engagement at the University of British Columbia (UBC), responsible for institutional partnerships, agreements and international relations, and more broadly for fostering strategic partnership engagement that supports long-term institutional goals. Prior to joining UBC in 2019, Emily worked in the non-profit sector for over 10 years, focused on partnership management and global development programs, working extensively in East Africa in particular.  Emily holds a MA in International Studies from SFU and BComm from Queen’s University.

Director of Global Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives

Lehigh University

Stacy Burger is the Director of Global Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives at Lehigh University, where she manages international partnerships, data, and the Global Engagement Directory. She also oversees Lehigh’s Virtual International Exchange, internationalization grants, and global engagement opportunities for staff and faculty. Stacy is the co-chair of the Community of Practice: International Partnerships Professionals in Higher Education. With over 15 years of experience in higher education, she previously taught high school Spanish. She has lived in Spain and Germany and has extensive international experience both personally and professionally. Stacy holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish with education from Ithaca College and a master’s degree in Instructional Technology from Lehigh University.
