Thursday, October 15th – Live webinar with Aléas
from 1:00pm – 2:30pm (EST)

Registration Deadline: October 1, 2020

Awareness of mental health issues  is becoming increasingly important for those who work with students studying abroad and paying attention to their mental health is critical to avoid a crisis. Knowledge of the various challenges and intervention methods enables organizations to identify and assist vulnerable people so they can fully and safely participate in activities abroad.

This workshop outlines basic information and intervention strategies for anxiety disorders, depression and thoughts of suicide, psychosis, eating disorders and ADHD. Participants will learn techniques, tools and skills to intervene effectively with students facing a mental health crisis abroad and ensure their safety.

This training is intended for anyone involved in the development and implementation of international education mobility. Initially offered as a pre-conference workshop at CBIE’s regional meetings, the training has been adapted to be delivered online.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will leave with the following:

  • Learn to recognize the main manifestations of mental illness that can affect individuals
  • Develop intervention techniques for people experiencing mental health issues
  • Better manage mental health issues experienced by outbound students

Institutional Registration

Each institution can register up to 4 team members (from the same institution) in this workshop.  Although we only require one payment per 4-person institutional team, it is necessary that each team member registers using the “REGISTER” button provided above.  Once the contact details have been entered, the payment window can be ignored/closed, when prompted.  We will recognize email domains and approve team members in the webinar registration platform.  Should you have any questions, please contact learning@cbie.ca
