On May 2 and 3, Collège Montmorency hosted the BCEI Colloque au Québec 2016 (en français seulement), attracting 102 participants for an exciting program on managing risk, college-university collaboration, and career paths in international education. Thanks to Montmorency and the multi-member planning committee.

Department of Tourism in the Philippines Visits CBIE and Members
A delegation for the Department of Tourism in the Philippines spent the week of April 18th travelling to Canadian cities to explore best practices in tourism marketing, policy and human resource development.
In Ottawa, the delegation met with CBIE to discuss training and education needs for the sector, toured the School of Hospitality and enjoyed lunch at Algonquin College’s student-run Restaurant International. The delegation then visited the World Tourism Education and Research Centre (WTERC) at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary for an overview of current research being conducted in the field. The group made a final stop at Capilano University in British Columbia where they heard from faculty at the globally recognized School of Tourism Management.
The Department of Tourism is the executive department of the Philippine government responsible for the regulation of the Philippine tourism industry and the promotion of the Philippines as a tourist destination.
CBIE IN THE WORLD
Executive Education in the Financial Sector of Sub-Saharan Africa
CBIE was recently awarded a project to conduct research on the impact of executive education in the financial sector of sub-Saharan Africa by Financial Sector Deepening Africa (FSDA), a large NGO based in Nairobi.
This project will be conducted in four African countries: Ghana, Uganda, Cameroon and South Africa by CBIE and our partner, the University of New Brunswick. The objective of this study is to develop key insights for business schools and other training providers in Africa to improve their course/training delivery and develop more compelling course offerings for prospective students and employers.
Pedagogical Innovation in the Maghreb
David Comerford, CBIE Director for International Partnerships gave a presentation on the Canadian Education System at the Salon Marocain de l’Éducation in Tangiers on April 9th. Linda Bendjafer, a Franco-Algerian psychologist and specialist in teaching methodology presented at the workshop on pedagogical innovation.
Capacity-Building Mission to Vietnam
From February 29th to March 5th, 2016, CBIE led a collaboration mission of representatives from 11 Canadian post-secondary institutions to Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Tra Vinh. The mission objective was to explore how Canadian institutions might collaborate to offer a uniquely-positioned Canadian option to Vietnamese partners seeking to strengthen their capacities in designing and delivering English as a Foreign Language (EFL) programming in Vietnam.
