Ottawa, October 14, 2016: CBIE is pleased to announce that Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, internationally recognized advocate for human rights and inspirational peace activist, will be speaking at its 50th Annual Conference.
Dr. Abuelaish founded Daughters for Life, an organization that works for the empowerment of women by supporting their education, following the horrific tragedy of his three daughters’ and nieces’ deaths in the 2009 Gaza war.
“We are honoured to welcome Dr. Abuelaish to our Annual Conference,” said Karen McBride, President and CEO of CBIE, “he exemplifies the noble cause of education and reminds us all of the empowering nature of forgiveness.”
He is a three-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee, known to many as the ‘Gaza Doctor’, dedicating his life to using health as a vehicle for peace. As the first Palestinian doctor to receive an appointment in Medicine at an Israeli hospital he has experienced the impacts of conflict in countries like Palestine, Egypt, Israel, Uganda, Yemen, Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Abuelaish will be speaking during the plenary on November 14, 8:30-10:00 a.m. in the Confederation Ballroom at The Westin Ottawa touching on his own personal experiences and promoting his foundation’s message ‘Making a Difference’.
Following the session he will be signing copies of his autobiography: I Shall Not Hate: A Gaza Doctor’s Journey on the Road to Peace and Human Dignity.
