Niagara Falls, November 23, 2015: CBIE and PMMA are pleased to announce the signing of a three year agreement at CBIE’s 49th annual meeting in Niagara Falls.
PMMA is the pioneer institution in maritime education in the Philippines. Its mission is to educate and train midshipmen/women to become qualified and competent merchant marine officers for ship board and shore based positions in response to the global requirements of the expanding international maritime industry.
CBIE works closely with a membership of over 150 education providers nationwide, and with a network of strategic partners throughout Canada and around the globe to promote Canadian international education by mobilizing expertise, knowledge, opportunity and leadership.
As a result of this agreement CBIE and PMMA share their commitment to supporting the growth of human resources in the Philippine Maritime sector.
“We are delighted to be signing this agreement with PMMA and to be learning more about the maritime industry” said Karen McBride, President and CEO of the CBIE.
CBIE will manage a program in collaboration with PMMA in upgrading the skills of faculty and staff of PMMA and other maritime institutions and will manage a scholarship program for Philippine maritime scholars at the masters and doctorate levels of advanced education for PMMA and other maritime institutions.
