The Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) is pleased to welcome Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette as its patron.
Invested as Canada’s 29th governor general in October 2017, Ms. Payette is an astronaut, scientist, linguist, pianist and choral singer.
“Her Excellency’s diverse interests and multiple career achievements are an inspiration to all Canadian youth looking to forge their own extraordinary pathways both in Canada and on the global stage,” said Larissa Bezo, President and CEO of CBIE.
“I have had the opportunity to work with Her Excellency, and I know she deeply values education and the importance of learning across borders,” added Dr. Robert Summerby-Murray, CBIE Board Chair and President of Saint Mary’s University, Halifax. “I am very much looking forward to her insights and support as we continue to advocate for global education for all Canadians.”
Ms. Payette takes over the role of patron from her predecessor, David Johnston.
“CBIE benefitted from a very warm relationship with His Excellency David Johnston. We look forward to an equally rewarding relationship with Her Excellency Julie Payette as a champion of international education,” said Bezo.
