Overview

The Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE), as the Scholarship Administrator of the Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) Program, is organizing a SEED 2023 Collaboration Mission bringing 15 senior representatives from institutions in Cambodia, Indonesia, and Lao PDR to the Canada-ASEAN Partnership Forum and CBIE2023 Conference in Vancouver. The Mission, funded by Global Affairs Canada, will explore and expand opportunities for institutional partnership development with Canadian institutions.

The SEED Program is funded by Global Affairs Canada and contributes to strengthening people-to-people ties between Canada and the Indo-Pacific region.It is facilitated through institutional collaborations and student exchange agreements between Canadian post-secondary institutions and their partner institutions in ASEAN countries.

Canada-ASEAN Partnership Forum

8:30 am – 4:30 pm

The Canada-ASEAN Partnership Forum will bring together key stakeholders in education from Canada and Southeast Asia. With a view to deepening people-to-people and institutional ties between Canada and the ASEAN community, and within the framework of Canada’s new Indo-Pacific Strategy, the Forum will convene key stakeholder organizations from the ASEAN region to share country-specific sector insights and priorities with the objective of identifying and catalyzing meaningful opportunities for collaboration and engagement with Canada.

Global Affairs Canada’s Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED)

10:15 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.

In this session, learn about this Global Affairs Canada (GAC) program. The SEED Scholarship Program provides opportunities for students from ASEAN member states to conduct short-term study or research in Canadian post-secondary institutions in areas that contribute to implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The SEED program relies on partnerships between Canadian institutions and their ASEAN counterparts. This session will provide a synopsis of the SEED program (the scholarship program cycle and best practices for submitting applications) and the upcoming expansion of the SEED program and other developments.

Speed Networking: Creating Crucial Contacts for SEED with Cambodia, Indonesia and Lao PDR

11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Participants are welcome to join a dynamic speed networking session to meet and connect with international delegates from institutions in Cambodia, Indonesia and Lao PDR.
