This workshop has been submitted to CICC for 1.5 hours of continued professional development (CPD).

Description

The College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) licenses Regulated International Student Immigration Advisors (RISIAs).  Once licensed, RISIAs must adhere to a set of professional and ethical obligations.  CICC provides the essential competency framework that outlines the knowledge, skills, and judgement that RISIAs need to perform and develop in their work.  As a RISIA, how familiar are you with all the essential competencies? Are you working towards building your competencies in all areas of the framework? This session will give an overview of the framework and look at how practitioners can use this framework to sharpen their skills and deliver excellent service to their clients. We’ll look at this from various RISIA role perspectives and help you map out where you’d like to grow your essential competencies in your career.

Learning Objectives
  1. Recognize all sections of the Essential Competency Framework for RISIAs
  2. Understand how these are needed and demonstrated in different workplace contexts
  3. Analyze these competencies in relation to your current work and career path
  4. Formulate ideas for your ongoing CPD plan
