SUMMARY:COIL Virtual Exchange -Canadian Case Studies Showcase
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column width= »1/1″][vc_column_text]The session seeks to provide a space for knowledge sharing via showcasing four (4) studies of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) projects from 4 different Canadian institutions in both Western and Eastern Canada. Presenters are faculty members and internationalization officers who have conducted a COIL project in the last few years; best case practices\, highlights\, and tips will be shared. \nThe presentation also aims to showcase COIL-VE as not a lesser form of mobility\, but rather\, a supplementary mode to mobility that is effective in widening access and providing choices for Canadian students – particularly those who have traditionally been unable to go on physical mobility. This perspective will give insight to participants and their respective institutions in seeing COIL-VE as a sustainable and inclusive tool that can be a staple in the suite of learning abroad programs available. Leveraging over 10 years of experience in Higher Education in the field of international mobility programs\, recruitment\, partnership development & agreements\, admissions (domestic/international)\, and assessment of transfer credits. Highly motivated and engaged in developing an internationalization strategic plan and direction in advancing the internationalization agenda and positive student experience in post-secondary institutions\, she is a knowledgeable and trained facilitator and curriculum developer for cultural safety learning programs. In her current role\, she oversees the International Learning program at Western University. She is the 3M National Teaching Fellow with the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and recipient of numerous awards for teaching innovation. She is a trailblazer for community engaged learning\, international learning\, and learning through simulation. She engages her students as partners in exploring arguably the best healthcare systems in the world through COIL and international travel in Scandinavia\, advocating tirelessly for improvement of lives and health of older adults.
