SUMMARY:International Partnerships and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Embedding Sustainability into Global Engagement
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text] \nSession Overview\nThe CBIE International Relations Professional Learning Community (IR-PLC) and the Community of Practice for Partnerships (CoPP) will host a conversation on the intersection between international partnerships and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in higher education. This discussion will critically address the tension at institutions between the advancement of the SDGs as a conceptual goal and the need for international partnerships to produce tangible outcomes in alignment with this objective. How can we ensure that sustainability is embedded into global engagement? \nThe opening panel features representatives with extensive experience engaging with these questions from various perspectives within the higher education sector. Their discussion will highlight the current landscape and context of international education and the SDGs\, particularly through the lens of international partnerships. \nThe case studies session brings together four North American institutions that will share their initiatives and efforts that showcase how international relations offices and collaborating units across campus are moving the SDGs agenda forward. Discussion topics include: \n\nHow to engage leadership and central administration in the process\nKey considerations when developing global partnerships through the SDGs framework\nBest practices in working with other campus units\, such as the Sustainability Office\n\nEach session will be followed by a Q&A session and dedicated time for open discussion where participants can connect\, share\, and engage with colleagues to exchange ideas and resources on practical ways to build sustainability into international partnerships. \nProgram\n\n\n\n12:00 PM\nWelcome\n\n\n12:05 PM\nOpening Panel Session & Q&A\n\n\n1:05 PM\nGroup Discussion\n\n\n1:30 PM\nCase Studies Session & Q&A\n\n\n2:30 PM\nGroup Discussion\n\n\n2:55 PM\nClosing Remarks\n\n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text] \nSpeakers\n[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][vc_tta_accordion title_tag=”h4″ section_title_tag=”h5″ gap=”10″ c_position=”right” active_section=”1″ no_fill=”true” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Event MC” tab_id=”1663331812764-7e944ec6-0551″][vc_column_text] \n\nDan Fredrick\, Director\, Global Engagement\, University of Alberta International\, University of Alberta (Co-Chair Elect\, IR-PLC)\nStacy Burger\, Director of Global Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives\, Office of International Affairs\, Lehigh University (Member\, CoPP)\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Opening Session” tab_id=”1663329527896-da4dbe0e-1ab5″][vc_row_inner el_class=”speaker-row”][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″ css=”.vc_custom_1663330386275{padding-right: 20px !important;}”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”3/4″][vc_column_text] \nKaren Dalkie\, Moderator\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Vice President[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Development and Partnerships\, Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE)[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Karen Dalkie joined Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) in 1998\, and over the past two decades\, she has spearheaded and implemented various projects and initiatives across the globe.
