SUMMARY:Global Engagement in the Time of Covid: Delegations\, Missions\, and Visits with International Partners
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Session Overview \nJoin the International Relations Professional Learning Community and the University of Victoria to discuss the current and near-term status of Canadian post-secondary institutions planning in-person engagement with international partners in the context of the global pandemic.  \nContinued uncertainty and unpredictable changes to travel restrictions and safety advisories make it challenging for us as International Relations professionals to plan and implement these critical global engagement activities.  Yet despite the prevalence of virtual communication platforms\, face-to-face meetings remain an essential means of establishing trust\, facilitating dialogue\, and establishing or reinforcing positive relations with key international partners. \nMarc Bavin and Ruth Wax from the University of Victoria’s Global Engagement Office will lead a presentation and discussion on the results from its survey on Presidential/Executive Travel and Global Engagement Plans\, which was distributed to the IR-PLC membership on December 10th\, 2021. \nThe intent of the survey was to take the pulse of Canada’s international higher education community to see how our institutions are adjusting plans for outgoing and incoming missions\, visits\, and delegations by senior administrators with international partners\, in light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.   \nMarc and Ruth will share their analysis of the survey results\, as well as insights and best practices gleaned from the data\, and will lead an open conversation with participants on where we go from here. \nAgenda: \n\n\n\n1:00 – 1:05\nIntroductions\n\n\n1:05 – 1:30\nSurvey results presentation and analysis (Marc/Ruth)\n\n\n1:30 – 1:50\nGroup discussion (led by Marc/Ruth)\n\n\n1:50 – 1:55\nClosing remarks\n\n\n\n  \n\nSpeakers:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row class=”facilitator-row”][vc_column column_padding=”custom-padding” column_custompadding=”0px 50px 20px 20px !important” width=”1/4″][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”custom-padding” column_custompadding=”0px 50px 20px 0px !important” width=”3/4″][vc_column_text] \nMarc Bavin\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Associate Director\, Global Partnerships[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]University of Victoria’s Office of Global Engagement[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Marc Bavin is the Associate Director\, Global Partnerships at the University of Victoria’s Office of Global Engagement.
