SUMMARY:IR PLC Summer Session on International Partnership Assessment
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Join the International Relations Professional Learning Community to discuss best practices and lessons learned in the creation and implementation of international partnership assessment tools. \nAs international relations practitioners\, partnership development is key to advancing internationalization strategies\, but once a partnership has been established\, how do we ensure that it meets the intended objectives and aligns with institutional priorities and values for all parties? \nEffective assessment of your institution’s international partnerships is critical to mitigating risks\, identifying opportunities to expand collaboration\, ensuring mutual benefit\, and determining when partnerships that are no longer mutually beneficial should be phased out. \nJoin Julie Benoit from the Université de Montréal as she shares some of the findings from the Québec Consortium on Evaluating International Partnerships\, and discusses how the Université de Montréal is using this information to implement an assessment tool that will ensure its partnerships are tightly aligned with its internationalization strategy. \nFollowing Julie’s presentation\, Andrea Delgado Morrow from the University of Calgary will share some of the lessons learned from her institution’s development and implementation of the International Partnership Assessment Rating Index (IPARI)\, an award-wining partnership assessment tool\, as well as next steps planned for its further evolution. \nAs part of the session\, participants will have the opportunity to engage in breakout discussions with other IR practitioners across Canada to share their own stories and experiences in assessing international partnerships. \nAgenda:\n\n\n\n12:00\nWelcome and overview of the IR-PLC\n\n\n12:05\nSummary of work of the Quebec consortium and plans for assessment tool implementation at Université de Montréal\n\n\n12:15\nLessons learned and next steps for the University of Calgary’s International Partnership Assessment Rating Index (IPARI)\n\n\n12:30\nBreakout sessions – Partnership assessment across Canada\n\n\n12:45\nSummary and next steps\n\n\n\nReflection questions for the session:\n\nWhat are the criteria for a successful international partnership?\nWhat qualitative/quantitative measurements/data sets can help you define the success of a partnership?\nWhich stakeholders should be involved in international partnership assessment?\nHow can International Offices use the data that is generated from a partnership assessment?\nHow often should you assess an international partnership?\nHow do you define your strategic partners?\nWhat resources are effective in the evaluation of international partnerships?\nHow are we being assessed by the partners?\nHow do we ensure our assessment tools are flexible\, inclusive\, and equitable\, given the power dynamics at play in international partnerships?\nHow can we develop a system (or tool) that would support strategic and operational decisions?\n\nPlease note: This session is reserved for CBIE members and is intended to provide a space for International Relations practitioners to share their learnings and observations. \nInterested in joining the conversation but can’t make it on July 19th?
