In order to fulfill their duty of care prescribed by the Canadian Criminal Code’s occupational health and safety legislation, and to ensure the safety of individuals engaged in international activity, institutions must carry out adequate risk management and have a security plan for their activities which, among other things, operationalizes risk management.

To support institutions in their risk management, Aléas offers a course divided into four modules during which participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their business methods and learn best practices in implementation. The delivery of the course will include a combination of video (asynchronous) and live sessions enriched by group discussions (synchronous).

The modules include the following topics:

  • Governance
  • Prevention
  • Crisis Management
  • Monitoring and Evaluation

This course aims to guide you and your institution through the process of developing the best risk management practices and building a culture of safety within your institution.   This will be accomplished by the following:

  • Increasing knowledge of risk management
  • Learning about international mobility risk management best practices
  • Establishing a clear picture of the safety practices in place
  • Validating  your institution’s ability to meet its duty of care requirements
  • Prioritizing components to be developed for your institution to reach its safety objectives
  • Providing guidance to make informed decisions
  • Developing knowledge to improve your institution’s risk management practices through a Safety Plan of International Activities

Given the collaborative nature of this online course, we highly suggest that institutions register a team. Institutional teams could include representatives from the following departments:

  • International Office
  • Human Resource
  • Safety and Security

PLEASE NOTE: We only require one payment per institutional team of three people.  Additional team members can join at a discounted fee of $500 per person.

Please send the list of your institutional stakeholders to learning@cbie.ca so they can be included in the webinar registration.
